Who We Are
Introduction
Firewood4Families, a 501(c)-3 non-profit organization based in Elkton, Virginia, is dedicated to providing free firewood for families in need in Page, Rockingham, and Shenandoah counties. Our mission is to ensure no family goes without heat during the cold months. We primarily deliver pre-chopped firewood sourced from common regional tree species, including oak, hickory, and maple, known for their excellent burning qualities. Importantly, we do not cut down healthy trees, and we are not licensed to remove dead trees. Instead, we focus on sustainable practices, ensuring that our firewood supply comes from already fallen or sustainably harvested sources.

About our Founder & President Grason Shifflett
My name is Grason Shifflett. I currently live in Page County with my parents and have been a lifelong resident of the Elkton/Shenandoah area. I attend East Rockingham High School and will graduate in the Spring of 2025. I am an academic honors student with a dream of becoming a chemical engineer.
I love baseball and spend my springs and summers playing on several teams. I am also an avid hunter and fisherman. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and playing with my dogs.
Helping the diverse members of our community is as important to me as maintaining a solid work ethic and being a committed steward of our environment.

Vision
I believe that a strong work ethic drives people to achieve their dreams. I also believe in the importance of supporting and helping others in the community. It is incredibly rewarding to know I have made a difference in someone’s life.
Firewood4Families is a simple solution but demands a personal commitment. We are available to help anyone in our community regardless of race, gender, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, age, or really—anything.
